Advanced Ultrasound Techniques
|
| This one-day workshop is designed for sonographers and physicians interested in performing diagnostic ultrasound studies for venous insufficiency. A detailed understanding will be gained of the anatomy, disease presentation, and treatment alternatives. A respected faculty experienced in ultrasound assessment for venous insufficiency will present the techniques used to diagnose the severity and location of the disease. An overview of the anatomy and pathophysology of the lower extremity will also be presented. Comparison of traditional surgery and a minimally invasive treatment alternative, as well as adjunctive procedures will be reviewed. All participants will have the opportunity to experience hands-on duplex scanning on patients with venous reflux disease. Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will receive CME credit recognized by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT). |

Treatment of Incompetent Perforators
|
| This one-day workshop is designed for physicians interested in treating symptomatic incompetent perforating veins (IPVs) with the VNUS RFS device. An esteemed faculty experienced in this treatment technique will introduce the system technology and procedure overview. The role of duplex ultrasound will be presented. A literature review of treatment options for perforator vein incompetence will be conducted and personal observations by faculty members will be discussed. Reimbursement issues will be presented. All participants will have the opportunity to experience duplex ultrasound scanning on IPV patients in a laboratory setting and observe application of the RFS technique through live or videotaped case observation. Ample question and answer time will be allotted during all sessions. |
